So day 2 of our long weekend! still in Calgary annnnd we have nothing planned. We have something but it’s for dinner so we have all day to just go anywhere we want. I didn’t honestly want to go to the zoo as I thought it would be lame but NOT.

It was so big, and as a kid I was in a school who didn’t have field trips, this is the biggest zoo I have ever been in (I’ve been in 3 so far, 1 zoo, 2 aquariums) Coming into the zoo, the first thing you see is a penguin. Like literally A penguin as in 1 penguin. So i was like, what the?! and then we followed the penguin foot prints leading indoors and viola. Oh my goodness there were like tons of penguins! different kinds too. They are so cute! We spent the whole day in that zoo. We have literally have seen every animal in Madagascar and one other animal-filled movie I just can’t remember what. Most of the animals were sleeping, since we came by afternoon but still I enjoyed it! It was fun! Oh right! We went to the zoo because of the kids, yeah they enjoyed it too. :P

It is the long weekend and to be honest I just really needed to get away. In fact, I booked a hotel out of town in advance even before telling them I wanted to go just because, it is free cancellation so I was like what the heck if they don’t want to go ill just cancel it, but as it turns out everybody wanted to go, somewhere at least...  We changed plans like 3 times but eventually we got into a decision. so here we are, Drumheller, AB, the home of the dinosaurs.

The whole place is just amazing, (I have to learn some new adjectives, but it is) They said that before, the whole place was under water as the rocks over there are the ones that can only be found under the sea. Being under those huge rocks is just surreal like I’m going to have a heart attack thinking if water came back or something like that happens again. So the drive there is always nice, steady with the right amount of adrenaline. There is also a museum where they display the dug up bones of the dinosaurs that roamed around the area before. The kids had a lot of fun and I guess they’re not scared of dinosaur bones? I thought they would be. So yeah after Drumheller we went to Calgary.

I booked us a room at Best Western Port O’ Call hotel. It has a water park inside!  I love booking in Best Western, they are friendly and they're amenities are always reasonably priced and worth more than what you pay for to be honest. The real story is actually when we were at the waterpark, there were 2 giant slides and then our 2-year-old Ava just said, out of the blue, without anyone pushing her to do it, she wanted to try it. So we did. She tried both slides but we are still learning go pro so we didn’t get both of it on video... sorry Babs, anyway... here are the photos!

What are we now movie #4 this year?

So anyway, it is Batman vs. Superman. This one is really hyped for a long time and it’s supposed to be really good. I mean it’s two super heroes of all time -  in one movie! And they’re against each other like whaaaat?! but unfortunately, I slept a little bit in the movie. It was just too long and drag-y for the most parts. I hated how they switched focus between batman and superman, I just felt like it wasn’t smooth enough. Also, the introduction of the whole franchise like the future movies, was yes mind blowing but, I don’t know it just felt off... there was just too many things going on in the movie... I am all about the superheroes (or maybe I am just really a marvel kind of girl) but... I just didn’t like it enough... maybe I’ll watch it again in the future and I’ll let you guys know.

Disclaimer: not a movie critic so what do I know?!

It’s a thing you guys!

haha I didn’t really believe it till I got here, but being here for 4 winters already yup. it’s true. but we had fun with it anyway.

We brought the kids to the playground! there's one near our house but for some reason it is locked, like nobody can get in... and I promised these kids a playground so I drove them to one. This is at Capilano behind our old apartment. ahhh memories. anyway, enjoy the photo dump!

-till the next adventure!!
I said it in a few posts back that there is really nothing happening here in Edmonton so whenever there is a happening, I make it a point to go! so here's another one:

Mom, Pop and Tots Fair or as the kids came to call it, Dora day!

I just saw this at the newspaper one time and thought, “hey it would be fun to bring the kids here!” The ad said there's going to be a petting farm, mule carousel rides and a real life size Dora the explorer with her friend boots! I didn’t know what it was actually about I just came in for the fun!  And the kids did have fun! (ok so did the grown-ups, I came with my 2 Marco)

-till the next adventure!!

Another movie but this time with the kids!

An automatic fave, Zootopia is a movie about a bunny Judy Hops, who in spite of being a cute tiny little rabbit, wants to be a cop in this perfect world where prey and predator lives peacefully. She came from a small town and when she graduated top of her class she was shipped to the big city of zootopia. The movie is fun for the kids and even for me! but as I said before not a movie critic and easily pleased so what do I know? :)) the movie didn’t drag for too long but our 2-year- old ava felt asleep mid movie but in the movies defense it was her bed time... hahaha

BTW the song by shakira "try everything" was an instant hit for me. LSS alert!

-till the next adventure!
